DONT STOP ME NOW

OK, How many FORGOT to alter their clocks??

Sunday, We were up and about fairly early, so we decided to go to Carew Car Boot Sale, (I haven’t been to Carew Market for about 15 years, it has changed a lot)

I managed to buy a new (Magnetic Bracelet) “BIOFLOW” and a Bioflow water conditioner (to reduce hard water/lime scale).

Jason (11) thought a Sunday market, was going to be boring, but his mind soon changed when he found a video, he has found hard to get,, for 50p, he was “into” bargains then, he found a SIMS PC , box set, for £5 (bargain as it has been £30 in the shops).

Monday, Had to ring the chemist, as my “Azilect” tablets had run out. These have been prescribed to reduce/stop my intention tremors (the Doctor told me not to forget to take them as they will help me, and they are very expensive (£75 per month !!!!!)

Went shopping to Swansea Tesco Extra. Went in a few clothes shops, River Island (for trousers for me) but the lift up stairs, to the men’s section, was out of order. Got a few (travel) books from “Borders” this shop is a lot “bigger” than I thought, its front does not
Do justice to how far back the shop floor goes rearwards, and they have a coffee shop up stairs (didn’t look for a lift, went to “NEXT”)

On the way, I over heard a young boy (7 or 8) say “that’s COOL, he (ME) can sit down and “whiz” down the pavements . I laughed, to myself, “the things young ones say”

On the way back, we went to the NEW TESCO PETOL STATION in Carmarthen, WOOHOO WOOHOO (SAD 40 year old!!) Very smart, only been open an hour when we got there @ 6pm, so all was spotless and clean. It was due to open earlier in the day, but they had a few teething troubles. Their New shop opens very soon (cant wait!!)

I have been looking into those large “balloon tyres”, to fit on a wheelchair, to allow it to go on soft ground- sand etc, they are called “FATSO” (not politically correct) from colours wheelchairs http://www.colourswheelchair.com/products/prod_fatso.htm

On Wednesday evening there is a meeting of South Wales Ataxia, in Swansea

DONT STOP ME NOW

Sunday evening, my internet was going very erratic!!! It was very slow and disconnecting.
Monday it seemed to get worse, but did connect, occasionally!!!
Tuesday, I went for a spin in “Stormy” (around the country lanes, had to pull in for a lorry, went into the “very muddy” verge, (had to wash the mud off the wheels, before he could come in the house !!!!!!. The internet is now “not displaying any thing, tried all the usual things ( system restore, defrag, virus and adware scans), to no avail.

Wednesday, had a dentist appointment @ 9 am, in Carmarthen, teeth are very good, check up in 3 months. Then went to pick up Jason (nephew) then went to Bridgend (McArthur Glen) cinema. Plenty of choice of films, 9 screens.
I have been recommended “The Gaurdian” and this is what I wanted to see. It stars Kevin Costner as a US Coast Guard instructor tutoring a class of “rescue swimmers” (main emphasise on the “best”, played by Ashton Kutcher,
THIS FILM IS VERY GOOD, TAKE PLENTY OF TISSUES, IT IS VERY SAD.
A quick look, at the computer, internet not working, A “major” think over this one
I hope a virus hasn’t done any damage. Perhaps a reinstall of the modem, if that dosent work, the last resort a reinstall of windows XP ( not something I “really” want to do, but if necessary it will have to be done. (when I have time , on the week end)

Thursday, went to cinema in Swansea. Saw “Hoodwinked” NOT A VERY GOOD FILM AT ALL, all the clips they use, in the trailers (to make it look good) are from the first 5 minutes, from then on it goes downhill fast!! When Little Red Riding Hood started singing “cabaret” style, I thought “OH MY GOD” , this is the theme for the rest of the film!!! Even Jason (11) said that the film “was not good” and was “bored”.
The cinema itself is a bit outdated, the wheelchair spaces, in the auditorium are “just inside” the door and seem part of the corridor, the nearest seat (to the right) is at “arms length”, so you seem to not to be “part of the crowd”.

Friday, went to Coleshill, but as its “Half-Term” there was no computer class!!! (so a bit of “a breather” for me. When I got home, it was time to try and sort out the computer, tried a few things, got it the internet working to get m e-mails, then it went hay-wire again, a major re-think tomorrow,.
1 e-mail was from a website, saying that they will acknowledge a travel item (regarding wheelies/disabililty, and if published they will pay accordingly, PLUS, I have got an application form from TUI (Thomson Travel) to write/review hotel/resorts for travelling for informing other disabled travellers.
These have come about after me sending “this idea” to various travel companies/magazines, this I am going to do again to get more interest in this !!!!.

A second (successful), meeting of “THE SOUTH WALES ATAXIA” (I am a committee member) will take place next Wednesday evening. More details contact bontwelshgirl@hotmail.com or go to www.ataxia.org.uk

Now, to see to my unruly computer !!!!!
By the look of it, it seems to work—reloaded SP2 and deleted of “rubbish”

DONT STOP ME NOW

Friday, WOOHOO, managed to do a bit of my computer course, (will have to study more, at home, to make sure it is clear in my mind, (MIND, MIND HAVE I GOT SOME SOMEWHERE !!!)

Saturday, I spent the day “browsing” the net, for various things, one of which was those “Large BALLOON” tyres to fit to a wheelchair, to enable it to go on soft ground or sand (beach) one website that does these tyres is at http://www.colourswheelchair.com/products/prod_fatso.htm .
When I get a pair, we will have to make sure there is enough room for them in the new car which we get ,next March, through Motability
http://www.motability.co.uk/ .
So far we like the FIAT Doblo, Volkswagon TOURAN and VW Transporter, FORD Focus C-MAX ??????

Sunday, went to a Car boot sale, in Carmarthen showground, most is under cover, not that it was raining, in the morning. A lot of people had a lot of “old TAT” on offer (good job we were just looking.

On the way out, a butcher was selling fresh meat, we bought some pre-packed BACON , and we were looking forward to BACON sandwiches for supper. When we started to grill them later on, we noticed that they were SMOKED BACON, not our cup of tea, and we had bought about 6lbs for the freezer, NOT so much of good purchase, now.

The “Western Mail” http://icwales.icnetwork.co.uk/ newspaper has 2 for 1 Holiday offer, for its readers. They look very good prices and flights go from Cardiff.
There is a resort/hotel in Lanzarote, GALEON PLAYA, Which we stayed in at the beginning of this year. It is in Costa Teguise, and is a fairly modern resort, so as such there are NO barrierers for wheelchairs.

A film that has been “recommended” as a must see is “The Gaurdian” http://theguardian.movies.go.com/ I now have to see which cinema has it showing Cardigan http://www.mwldan.co.uk/ , Swansea http://www.odeon.co.uk/fanatic/film_times/s19/Swansea_formerly_UCI/?scope=25/10/2006 or Bridgend http://www.odeon.co.uk/fanatic/film_times/s70/Bridgend/ , hopefully I can get to see this film as soon as possible, or even this week..

which I am going to. May even meet some of my "old" teachers from when I was in "Ysgol Gruffydd Jones" St Clears, (along time ago !!)

DONT STOP ME NOW

I went,to the LHB meeting in Carmarthen and it wasnt so "heavy" as I expected. Two of my friends were there from my Social Centre.
We MADE sure our views were heard (and noted, for referance).

They did admit, that the venue itself wasnt ideal, the car park was all gravel ?? NOT A GOOD START, the headphones they gave out were all faulty, dont they check these things!!!
They promised, that we all get to know the outcome of the meeting and any future plans !!!!

DONT STOP ME NOW

Friday, went to Coleshill, Social Centre, Didn’t do any of the “powerpoint”, module of the course, I was helping other students. Will have to try and find time to catch up with it at home.

On Saturday, we went to the Thomson, Travel agents in Carmarthen, to choose a holiday for next year.
We have settled on PLAYA DE LOS POCILLOS, Lanzarote. Next January. In some self catering bungalows.
It is a Fairly quiet place on the edge of Puerto Del Carmen (which is where all the nightclubs are) so we are not far away if we want to be in the “thick of it”. This time I think we are going to hire a car, so we can explore the island, under our own steam and in our own time (not relying on buses or taxis).

While at the travel agents, I got some other brochures on Africa and Caribbean + India Ocean, for future reference and general browsing. These places seem very expensive !!!!

In the evening I went to the cinema to see “World Trade Centre” a very emotional rescue film. The easiest way to describe it would be a very powerful and moving film, with a “ basic idea (IMHO) of a BBC 1 Causalty episode ??????.

On Sunday, went to the cinema, again , with nephew, Jason. We saw OPEN SEASON, a cartoon about a group of wild animals that take revenge on some hunters. This was on in the 2nd screen of Theater Mwldan. This time I went to the wheelchair space at the top of , take lift to 3rd floor, the theatre (as last time in Mwldan 1, the lower w/c space, is a bit “neck straining” as its fairly close to the sceen) this time I was looking down on the screen, ( but I still prefer Mwldan screen 1, the w/c space is right in the middle of the theatre. (they have seating plans on their website,

Today, Tuesday, took “Stormy” (powerchair) out for a spin, about 8 miles, would of gone further, only the forecast is for rain and the wind was getting quite cold, is I thought it was best to make my way home

Tommorrow, I have been invited to a meeting/seminar at the Rural Development Centre, Carmarthen. By the Carmarthenshire Local Health Board.
This is for the DISABILITY EQUALITY SCHEMES, THE DUTY for the PUBLIC SECTOR. (a new procedure which will come into force in December 2006).
I want to mention a few issue`s, such as, LHB`s should have better knowledge/awareness of “invisible” disabilities, more public communication, transportation, access to public (hospitals surgerys) buildings in to and around inside.

DONT STOP ME NOW

Last night, After about a 10 months wait, I had an appointment, for an MRI scan, at Llanelli hospital..
The Hospital explained, “that to cut down on waiting times, they are offering a evening appointments”.

Possibly, to check how much “deterioration” has happened, to my CERABELLUM over the last few years!!!!!!!

Afterwards, we went to TESCO, TROSTRE, to get some shopping, and then pop in to McDonalds for a quick snack. The, wheelchair access is a lot better than their Carmarthen branch which I had to complain about, McDonalds head office, and which the Carmarthen Journal (newspaper) highlighted in July 2006.
